Hispanic Heritage Week

Hispanic & Latino Cultural Club (HLCC) has organized a special week to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month!  

Monday - Latino Cultural Spirit Day - dress in Latino cultural clothing or wear red, green and white.

Wednesday - Come learn zumba/salsa after school in the South Cafe

Thursday - “Paleta” Social - Join HLCC in the Courtyard after school for an ice cream treat.

Friday - We will play a school wide game of Loteria!  

 

Zumba Event

In celebration of this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month, our Hispanic and Latino Cultural Club is going to be hosting a Zumba class led by a certified instructor on Wednesday, September 17th at 3:30 pm in the PAC lobby. Come join us for a fun, high-energy workout! No experience is necessary, just bring your energy and get ready to move!!  Please use this link to sign up and reserve your spot.  Following the class, there will be an Agua Fresca sale, cash only, a perfect way to cool down and continue the celebration! 

 

Feminism Club Dress Event

The Feminism Club of Richards High School is sponsoring a Free Dress Drive for Homecoming Dance.  If you would like to donate a dress to be given away – please bring your gently used and clean dress to the Activities Office next week - Monday through Friday starting at 7:30 am. Please make sure the dress you are donating has a size on it or please label it with a size.

If you would like to browse for a free Homecoming dress – please come Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23 after school from 3:20-4:20 to the PAC lobby. It will be first come – first served and Limit 1 dress per student. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Cruse in Room 254.

 

District 218 Marching Band Festival

The District 218 Marching Bands will perform their programs at the D218 Marching Band Festival on Wednesday, September 24 from 5:00-7:00 pm on Korhonen Field.  All are welcome to attend!

 

Homecoming 2025 Information

The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 27th from 6-9 pm at school.  You can find the answers to many commonly asked HOCO questions on this Information Sheet.  Tickets to the dance are now on sale for $20 online.  Students can also purchase tickets in the cafeteria on Monday, September 22nd through Thursday, September 25th.  Ticket costs will rise starting on the day of Homecoming to $30 and will only be able to be purchased online through 5:00 pm.  NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.

 Out of school guests may attend with a photo ID and completed Guest Permission Slip.  The Guest Permission Form must be completed and submitted to the Activities Office before a guest ticket can be purchased. Once your guest permission slip has been approved, your guest will receive a discount code to purchase their ticket.  You will need to purchase your ticket and your guest’s ticket at the same time.  Forms can be found on the glass outside of the Cafeteria.

 

Homecoming Court Information

This year's Homecoming Court will consist of the two individuals from each grade level.  We will collect all nominations and then a final vote will go out to each grade level.  The two individuals with the most votes at each grade level will be placed on the Homecoming Court.  All winners will receive a sash and flowers. Current discipline/attendance issues will void that student's nomination.  To self-nominate or nominate a friend, please complete this form by Wednesday, September 17.

Golf Hats
The girls golf team is selling hats for $30.  Hats can be ordered online and picked up with Mr. Peck at school.

Fall Kiddie Cheer Camp
Join us for our Fall Kiddie Cheer Camp on September 17 & 18 from 5–8 PM in the Stage Gym (enter through Door S8). Open to kids ages 5–14, this fun camp is just $40 and is a great way to learn cheers, meet new friends, and have a blast with our cheer team! Click Here to Register!

Parents and families are invited to join us for our upcoming College Planning Events this month. These sessions will provide important information to help guide your student through the college application and admissions process.

Fall Mum Sale

Youth & Government is hosting their Annual Fall Mum Sale.  Orders can be placed online through September 15 and delivery will take place after school on September 24.  Cost is $12 each.

 

Last Chance Senior Yearbook Photos 

Any senior who has not yet been photographed for the yearbook can do so on Friday, September 26 during their lunch period in the PAC Lobby.  This will be the last chance for seniors to be photographed for the yearbook.

 

Digital Readiness Day

Digital Readiness Day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30.  Student will report to their testing rooms at 9:38 am for Digital Readiness to prepare their iPads for Pre-ACT testing on October 9.  It is important that students come to school with a fully updated and charged iPad that day.

 

Thankful Thursday

We’re celebrating Thankful Thursdays-- a day each week dedicated to gratitude and appreciation. Let's take a moment to recognize students, staff, and others by writing thank you notes.  Staff and students are encouraged to stop by the LRC or Main Office to write to someone they are thankful for and add it to the Thankful Thursday Boxes!

 

Math Lab Tutoring Help 

The Richards Math Lab will be open during all lunch periods. The math lab is a place where you will be able to stop in during your lunch period to ask a math teacher any questions you may have on your math lessons/homework.  This year, the math lab will be open the last 35 minutes of every lunch period. You must attend your homeroom for the first 15 minutes of your lunch period. After your homeroom, you will be able to go get your lunch and bring it up to the math lab in the following rooms.

Academic Supports & AP Tutoring

Richards offers students tutoring opportunities for English, math, science and ELL/world languages.  Dates and times are listed on the Semester 1 Academic Support Schedule.  We also have specialized tutoring opportunities for students enrolled in AP classes.
