Soul Food Dinner

AACA will host a Soul Food Dinner Party on Wednesday, February 25 after school in the Cafeteria.  Tickets cost $10 each.  Register online to attend.

 

1st ACT Avenger Stone Event

Our 1st ACT Avenger Stone Event will take place on Wednesday, February 25 during lunch periods - Know Your Why - Fuel Your Purpose.  The Soul Stone requires sacrifice, purpose, and deep self-understanding. In this event, you’ll reflect on your “why” — your motivations, dreams, and the personal reasons you strive for success. Discover what fuels you and learn how purpose can strengthen your determination and drive on the ACT and beyond.  Space is limited to 40 participants per period so register online early!  

Students should report directly to the PAC Lobby at the start of the period.  We will take care of your attendance from homeroom.

ACT Avengers: Get Ready for the ACT!

Students can now access Albert ACT Prep free of charge to prepare for the ACT. Join your school’s class, complete practice activities, and earn PawPride points while you study!

 

2nd ACT Avenger Stone Event

Our 2nd ACT Avenger Stone Event will take place on Wednesday, March 4 from 3:20-4:20 pm in the Cafeteria - Create Your Future Reality.  Dream It.  Believe It.  Make it Real.  The Reality Stone can reshape worlds — and this event is about reshaping your own future. You’ll explore the power of growth mindset and create a vision of what you want your future to look like. Dream it. Believe it. Make it real. This session focuses on visualizing success and identifying the steps to turn those dreams into reality. Space is limited so register online early!  

 

Rotary Interact

Rotary Interact will be hosting a Pie-in-the-Face Fundraiser to raise monies for Ronald McDonald House.  Stop by the table in the cafe to place a donation in a staff member’s jar.  The staff member who raises the most will get a pie in the face on Pi Day - March 13!  

 

RESPECT Week! 

RESPECT Week! Below is a list of student activities and staff theme dress up days.

Monday - Sign the RESPECT pledge at lunch.  

Tuesday - Find the hidden cowboy ducks around the school.  Turn in your duck and claim your prize at lunch.

Wednesday - Polar Plunge will take place during lunch periods.

Thursday - Purchase a friendship bracelet during lunch.

Friday - Get a temporary tattoo during lunch.

 

Krispy Kreme Prom Fundraiser

Any junior or senior is invited to participate in the Krispy Kreme Prom Fundraiser to fundraise for their own prom ticket.  Students can earn $5 per dozen donuts sold and $10 per BOGO card sold. Order forms are due to the Activities Office by Friday, March 13th.  Product pick up will take place on Wednesday, March 17th in the Activities Office from 3:15-3:45 pm.

 

Tri-M Honor Society Induction

The Music Department will be hosting the Tri-M Honor Society Induction on Monday, March 2 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center.  All are welcome to attend.

 

Women’s Workshop

The Feminism Club is hosting the Women’s Workshop on Wednesday, March 4 in honor of Women’s History Month.  Select students will be permitted to attend the Career Panel during 7th and 8th period in the PAC.  

 

Raising Cane’s

Leo Club is hosting a Raising Cane’s Restaurant Night on Thursday, March 5 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the store located at 11006 S. Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn.  Come for dinner and support Leo Club at the same time as 15% of your sales will be donated to the club.  You must mention the fundraiser in the store or use code RCFUND96 if ordering online or in the app.

 

 Iftar Dinner

The Arab Heritage & Cultural Club will be hosting an Iftar Dinner on Thursday, March 5 from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Cafeteria.  Families should enter through Door S3 and must RSVP online.

 

The Midwinter Band Concert and Jazz Coffeehouse 

The Midwinter Band Concert and Jazz Coffeehouse will take place on Friday, March 6 starting at 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria.  The Richards Art Department will also be hosting an Art Show in conjunction with the Jazz Coffeehouse.  All are welcome to attend.  Please enter the Cafeteria through Door S3.

Thankful Thursday

We’re celebrating Thankful Thursdays-- a day each week dedicated to gratitude and appreciation. Let's take a moment to recognize students, staff, and others by writing thank you notes.  Staff and students are encouraged to stop by the LRC or Main Office to write to someone they are thankful for and add it to the Thankful Thursday Boxes!

 

Math Lab Tutoring Help 

The Richards Math Lab will be open during all lunch periods. The math lab is a place where you will be able to stop in during your lunch period to ask a math teacher any questions you may have on your math lessons/homework.  This year, the math lab will be open the last 35 minutes of every lunch period. You must attend your homeroom for the first 15 minutes of your lunch period. After your homeroom, you will be able to go get your lunch and bring it up to the math lab in the following rooms.

Academic Supports & AP Tutoring

Richards offers students tutoring opportunities for English, math, science and ELL/world languages.  Dates and times are listed on the Semester 2 Academic Support Schedule.  We also have specialized tutoring opportunities for students enrolled in AP classes.
