Ping Pong Tournament

The Activities Department will host a Ping Pong Tournament during lunch periods on Friday, January 17.  Please sign up online if you’d like to participate.

 

Scholarship Night at Clancy’s

Grab a friend and join us for a night of fun at Clancy's Pizza Pub located at 4624 W. 103rd Street in Oak Lawn on January 24 from 3:30-6:30 pm. Cost is $40 for beer, wine, soda and appetizers. Half will be donated back to the Scholarship Fund from Clancy's!  Please note this event is for 21 and over.  You can order tickets online.

 

Bulldogs for a Better Community Service Week

The Activities Department will be hosting the Bulldogs for a Better Community Service Week January 27-30.  The daily details are listed below.  There are limited spots available for some days so pick up your permission forms outside the Activities Office and return as soon as possible to secure your spot.

Monday, January 27: Oak Lawn Children’s Museum Deep Clean Day 3:20-5:20 pm (20 

                                               spots available)

Tuesday, January 28: Blanket Making for Project Linus in the Cafe 3:20-4:20 pm (bring a 

           blanket kit to make)

Wednesday, January 29: Feed My Starving Children 3:20-8:30 pm (90 spots available 

bring money for dinner at Portillo’s)

Thursday, January 30:  Kids Kraft Event at Calumet Park Library 3:20-5:20 pm (20 spots 

available)

 

Project Warm Hugs Winter Coat Drive

Jacie Strelow and the Activities Department are hosting Project Warm Hugs Winter Coat Drive.  We will be taking donations of new or gently used coats and winter accessories.  Donations can be made at school in the Activities Office or Main Office and credit to any club/sport of your choice now through January 17.  The club/sport that collects the most will win a pizza party!

 

Open Gym

The Activities Department will be hosting the Rising Bulldogs Open Gym on Monday, February 3 from 6:30-8:30 pm.  Come out for a night of fun playing basketball, volleyball, badminton, dancing with the DJ, working out in the weight room and more!

 

Literary Magazine Cover Contest

Literary Magazine is hosting a Cover Contest now through February 15.  The theme of the magazine is Reflections and all designs should be sized 8.5” x 11”.  Upload your design online.  The artist of the chosen design will win a prize.

 

Yearbook Pre-Sale

The 2024-2025 Yearbook can be pre-ordered online now.  Please note that we do not order extra yearbooks so please be sure to pre-order yours now.

 

ACT Excel Edge Class for Juniors

District 218 has partnered with ExcelEdge to offer the ACT Prep course at Shepard High School in January.  Register for ACT 36. To join our program, which will be held at Shepard High School, please visit the ExcelEdge website – www.exceledgeinc.com. Tuition is $360, which includes a textbook. Registration will close on January 6th, a late fee will be added after that date if the class is still available. Class will run from 4:00-6:00 pm on the following dates:  1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4 (Practice ACT 4-7:30pm), & 3/11 at Shepard HS

 

K & G Fashion Prom Discount

K & G Fashion Superstore will offer our students a 10% discount this season.  To claim the discount, just mention that you are from Harold L. Richards High School.  

 

Tree Machine Green Raiser

Science Club is sponsoring our Tree Machine fundraiser.  They will be collecting donations of clothing, shoes, accessories, and linens.  Simply put your donations in a bag and drop them in the green and white Tree Machine bin which is located in the parking lot across from the tennis courts.  It’s a great way to clean your closets and support the Richards Science Club!

 

Class of 2025 Graduation VIP Experience Raffle

The Richards Scholarship Committee has organized a raffle for a Graduation VIP Experience.  Winner would receive six graduation tickets, six reserved VIP seats in a private, roped-off section and two dedicated VIP parking spots near the ceremony entrance.  10 Entries cost $25, 30 entries cost $50 and 75 entries cost $100.  Contest ends on Sunday, March 30, 2025 and the winner will be announced on Monday, April 7, 2025.  All proceeds will benefit the HLR Scholarship Fund.  All entries can be purchased online.
