Class of 2026 Spirit Wear Sale

The Richards Scholarship Committee has organized a Class of 2026 spirit wear sale.  Sales will be taken online through Thursday, October 30.  Orders will be delivered to the school the week of November 17. Proceeds will benefit the Scholarship Fund which is used to give scholarships to graduating seniors.

 

Red Ribbon Week
Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD Club) is hosting Red Ribbon Week from October 27-31.
Monday - Take a Seat, Take a Stand. Get your photo taken in the Big Red Chair during 
                            lunches.
Tuesday - One Line Can Shine! During Freshmen Homerooms, submit your best drug
                            free phrase for a chance to win a prize!
Wednesday - Sign the Pledge, Take a Stand!  Sign the pledge to stay drug free during
                              lunch periods.
Thursday - Dress in Red, Use Your Head!  Get beads during lunches if you are wearing
                              Red!
Friday - Scare Away Drugs!  Win big in the costume contest during lunch periods.

D218 College & Career Fair
District 218 is hosting a College and Career Fair on Wednesday, October 29 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the CHSD 218 Administrative Center located at 10701 South Kilpatrick Avenue, Oak Lawn, IL.  Over 150 colleges, technical schools and career professionals will be in attendance. 

Underclassmen Picture Retakes
Underclassmen Picture Day Retakes will take place on Thursday, October 30 during all lunch periods in the PAC Lobby.  Students who want to retake their photo should report to their homeroom first.  Their homeroom teacher will issue them a pass to go to the PAC lobby to have their photo taken.

October is College Mania Month at Richards!
The Counseling Department is excited to kick things off with Rep Your School Wednesdays.

 How to Participate:
Staff and students, show your school pride by wearing your college gear every Wednesday in October—you’ll earn 5-Star points for participating!

 Weekly Events:

  • October 29 – I Applied to College Celebration
    Celebrate seniors who’ve submitted applications—treats and recognition!

 

Clancy’s Scholarship Night

The Scholarship Committee is hosting a Scholarship Night at Clancy’s Pizza Pub located at 4624 W. 103rd Street in Oak Lawn on Friday, November 14 from 3:30-6:30 pm.  Cost is $40 and includes pizza, appetizers, and drinks.  This is a 21+ event to raise money for student scholarships.  Tickets can be purchased online.

 

 

Thankful Thursday

We’re celebrating Thankful Thursdays-- a day each week dedicated to gratitude and appreciation. Let's take a moment to recognize students, staff, and others by writing thank you notes.  Staff and students are encouraged to stop by the LRC or Main Office to write to someone they are thankful for and add it to the Thankful Thursday Boxes!

 

Math Lab Tutoring Help 

The Richards Math Lab will be open during all lunch periods. The math lab is a place where you will be able to stop in during your lunch period to ask a math teacher any questions you may have on your math lessons/homework.  This year, the math lab will be open the last 35 minutes of every lunch period. You must attend your homeroom for the first 15 minutes of your lunch period. After your homeroom, you will be able to go get your lunch and bring it up to the math lab in the following rooms.

Academic Supports & AP Tutoring

Richards offers students tutoring opportunities for English, math, science and ELL/world languages.  Dates and times are listed on the Semester 1 Academic Support Schedule.  We also have specialized tutoring opportunities for students enrolled in AP classes.
