This class will follow the SpringBoard curriculum. First semester will focus in reading nonfiction text and drama. Students will write a definition essay and an opinion essay. Both essays will use multiple sources from class reading and research to support the student's thesis. The class will also include direct instruction on grammar in class and students will use No Red Ink for grammar practice and quizzes.

Students will work on three units to write a fiction, a memoirs, and a short poetry collection. Students will completed multiple drafts and though peer editing and writing conferences with the teacher will select and edit their best pieces to hand in for CUA grades.
