What AP Students Can Expect on their AP Testing Days


Where and when will the testing take place?

  • To better ensure an optimal testing environment, all AP exams will be administered at the CHSD 218 district office (10701 S. Kilpatrick Ave, Oak Lawn).
  • All morning exams begin at 8 am and all afternoon exams begin at 12 pm per the College Board schedule. 

What should I bring to my AP exam?

  • Students should bring at least two #2 pencils (non-mechanical) and a black or dark blue ink pen.
  • Students may also bring an extra eraser, an approved calculator for exams that allow calculator use, and a water bottle.
  • For Computer Science Principles & African American Studies, students also must bring their fully charged iPad with the Bluebook app already downloaded. 
  • For Spanish Language & Culture, French Language & Culture, German Language & Culture, and Music Theory, students also must bring their fully charged iPad with the DAC app already downloaded. 
  • Phones, smart watches or other smart devices and any other noise making device must be turned off and put away prior to the test. Backpacks will be placed in a designated area in the testing room. 
  • Dress in layers.  Spring weather and temperatures can be unpredictable.

What is the procedure for morning and afternoon AP testing?

Afternoon AP Exam General Timeline
  • Arrive to HLR by 6:45am at door S3 (HLR Cafeteria Entrance) and proceed through magnetometers.
  • Bus to admin center departs at 7:00am at door S2 (HLR Main Entrance)
  • Pre-testing procedures–7:15a to 7:59a
  • AP Exam – 8:00a
  • Bus return to HLR between 11:30a & 1230p depending on specific exam guidelines*
  • Students will re-enter the building at door S3 and proceed through magnetometers.
  • Lunch upon return (6th period)
  • Attend 7th & 8th period
  • Attend 1st & 2nd period
  • 3rd period – lunch
  • Report to door S2 (HLR Main Entrance) at 10:45am
  • Bus to admin center departs at 11:00a
  • Pre-testing procedures–11:15a to 11:59a
  • AP Exam – 12:00p
  • Bus return to HLR at 4:00p*
  • If you are re-entering the building you MUST enter through door S3 and proceed through the magnetometers.

  • Lunch upon return (5th period)
  • Attend 6th, 7th & 8th period
  • Attend 1st period
  • 2nd period – lunch
  • Report to door S2 at 10:52 am
  • Bus to admin center departs at 11:00 am
  • Pre-testing procedures–11:15 am to 11:59 am 
  • AP Exam – 12:00p
  • Bus return to HLR at 4:00p*
  • If you are re-entering the building you must enter through door S3 and proceed through the magnetometers.
