Richards High School Interact Club Mission statement

“Service Above Self”, a motto that has been followed by over 1.2 million Rotary members around the world ever since it was founded on November 5, 1962. Rotary Interact is a student-led, non-profit organization in which young people ages 12-18 work together in a world fellowship dedicated to serve and international understanding. Rotary Interact abides by 7 official causes: Promoting peace, Fighting disease, Providing clean water, Saving mothers and children, Supporting education, Growing local economies, and Protecting the environment. As a club, we work to do outreach projects based on these 7 causes in hopes of educating our community, offer students a place to grow as involved citizens, and enhance their leadership skills. Some things the Richards Rotary Interact members have done throughout the years have been ‘Pennies for Autism', which led to some of our teachers taking a pie in the face to raise money to advance research into the causes and treatment of Autism. Students also organized their efforts in assisting ‘Nothing but Nets' which is a United Nations program geared to prevent the spread of malaria in developing nations. We even organized and participated in a local Donkey Basketball game where teachers and students played against a highschool in the area to raise funds for local charities! Students in the Richards Interact Club identify, organize, and implement two major service projects a year: one that impacts the local community and one that affects the world internationally. This year we hope to continue discussing and connecting with the 7 official causes, lead group projects such as a blood drive and fundraisers, connect with other Rotary groups in our area, and much much more! We are so excited and glad to be able to run the club in-person this year! So, we hope you join us, as it is an opportunity to develop leadership skills, create friendships, give back to the community, and most importantly promote world understanding and peace. Always remember, it is not what you can do for yourself rather what you can do for others!

Only Active members will have Rotary Club added to their transcripts. To be considered an active member of Rotary Club, you must earn 50 participation points. You can earn these points by coming to meeting and participating in events (3 participation points each).
