Computer Concepts FALL 2019 (Period 1)
Course Description
This orientation-level course is designed to develop awareness and understanding of applications software and equipment used by students and employees to perform tasks in business marketing and management. With a focus on the Microsoft Office Suite students will learn basic word processing techniques using Microsoft Word, basic spreadsheet development and formula editing using Microsoft Excel, basic database creation using Microsoft Access, and will learn both basic and advanced presentation techniques using Microsoft PowerPoint.
In Computer Concepts students will begin developing the basic skills needed to complete projects that will be required of them both personally and professionally. Students will begin learning how each of the Microsoft Office programs work both individually and together, and how to integrate multiple programs in to a single document or presentation.

Students who enroll in this class will be eligible to take the Microsoft PowerPoint certification exam (No extra fee required), and may achieve industry certification. This course is the prerequisite for the more advanced computer classes offered such as Computer Applications-Information Processing and Computer Applications-Data Processing.
*Computer Concepts is a CTE Dual Credit course. Students can earn 3 hours of college credit (IMS #115 Microsoft Office I) at MVCC with a grade of C or better.
Students must earn CTE Dual Credit in Computer Concepts 516 (IMS 115 Microsoft Office I) to be eligible for CTE Dual Credit in Computer Applications-Information Processing 539 or Computer Applications-Data Processing 535.
