Early Childhood Education

 
This course is designed to provide the student with an in-depth early childhood experience based on the activities and behavior of three and four year old children in the Laboratory preschool.  Students will observe, supervise and facilitate activities for the preschool children.  Students who are interested in careers such as child care aides, directors, child psychologists, pediatricians, social workers or teachers should consider this course.
 
  • This class is a year long course open to Juniors and Seniors. 
  • Prior to taking this class, you must successful complete Child Development and Parenting a semester long course. 
  • You will be working directly with students in our laboratory preschool.  
  • Professional appearance and regular attendance are expected. 
 
Credentials Earned 
  • You will complete Heartsaver CPR First Aid and AED certification. 
  • You will earn the ECE level 1 certification through the Illinois Gateways program.
