News You Can Use
A Message From Our New Substance Use Counselor
It is that time of the year where semester ends, students are stressing about Finals and teachers are looking forward to another semester with warmer weather. Holidays can be a stressful and even a difficult time for some but I hope it's a season full of peace, joy, acceptance and kindness towards ourselves and our loved ones. I wanted to bring your attention to the changes and news which will be in effect as of January 1st and that is legalizing marijuana in Illinois. Even though recreational marijuana will be legal, a person needs to be of age of 21 to purchase it, unless accompanied by a legal guardian. This change can bring on some anxiety and discomfort to school staff and parents but remember to be as engaged as you can with your teens and have discussions with them that bring discomfort. Spreading awareness is a beginning to creating change. Feel free to view the links below for information around legalizing marijuana. I wish you all and your families Happy Holidays and a special and memorable New Year.
