Richards High School Interact Club Mission statement
“Life's most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?”-Martin Luther King Jr. Interact is a club that gives young people the opportunity to make a difference in their communities and the world around them through various service projects. Interact promotes student leadership. Things we have done through our school have been Pennies for Autism which led to some of our teachers taking a pie in the face to raise money to advance research into the causes and treatment of Autism. Students organized our efforts to assist Nothing but Nets a united nations program geared to prevent the spread of malaria in developing nations. Richards students organized our school’s participation and promotion of a local Donkey Basketball game with teachers and students playing against another area high school to raise funds for local charities. Interact is sponsored by the Oak Lawn Rotary club. Rotary and Interact promote service and leadership in people of all ages. Rotary International has done many service projects that include helping to cure polio. Rotary and Interact are simply ways students can promote service and actually help people while gaining valuable leadership traits. Always remember it is not what you can do for yourself rather what you can do for others. Students in the Richards Interact Club identify, organize, and implement two major service projects a year: one that impacts the local community and one that affects the world internationally.
